Design a logo and visual identity for the 2018 Global Public Procurement Conference.
Professionals between the ages of 35 to 50.
Heads of procurement, chief technology officers from the procurement agencies, international experts, academia, the private sector and staff from the multilateral development banks, and other organizations from around the world.
The conference will benefit the attendees by providing them with tools, resources, and best practices on ways to innovate and use technology in procurement within their organizations.
Online and printed — logo design, web, and social media imagery, signage, and event program.
Innovation, electronic government, digital procurement, blockchain.
The first step was to define a clear concept for the conference’s visual identity by performing competitive analysis, looking at other technology-inspired logos, and researching the keywords provided. Second, to find ways to integrate these elements and create a solid concept.
From the research gathered, the focus of the logo design was based on the idea of innovation as an evolving process. Electronic government, digital procurement, and blockchain are the results of technology and innovation, which are in constant change.
With the concept in place, it was time to sketch as many ideas as possible to start refining them.
After many sketches, I reached the perfect solution by creating a symbol that identifies the concept of Innovation as a process. To represent this theme, I designed a symbol with multiple rings that form different paths that lead to one point or one solution. To show the process of innovation is non-linear, I deleted sections of the rings generating even more opportunities that lead to the final solution. Finally, the symbol was compressed into a rectangle to balance and complement the complexity of the conference’s name.
